Waratah Adventure Tours Pty Ltd was incorporated by founder and director Rudi Diederich in Sydney in 1986. After working as a professional engineer in Europe and Australia, Rudi travelled extensively across the 5th continent and initially offered off-road camping safaris across Australia. Over time the company developed into a special interest operation with a focus on nature-based tours and is enjoying an outstanding reputation in the travel industry.
Rudi's partner Gerda Weber is the financial guru and the pillar of the business. Isabel Bauer is responsible for operations, Pascale Pias is looking after bookings and Jens Hertel is as fleet manager the "jack of all trades". The team is supported by a number of loyal tour guides.
From its headquarters in Sydney the firm operates excursions along the south-eastern seaboard and from its bases in Ayers Rock/Alice Springs, Darwin and Cairns, regions in Central-, Northern- and Eastern Australia are covered.
Waratah Adventures is a member of the Tourism Export Council (ATEC), the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and is licensed by nature conservation agencies in most states.
The company operates a modern fleet of 7 to 22-seater coaches and 4x4 vehicles. Accommodated modules with different styles of accommodation including hotels/motels, lodges and holiday cabins are the backbone of its operation. Waratah Adventure Tours have fully qualified English and German speaking driver-guides, who are well versed in the Australian geography, culture and flora/fauna.
Personalised boat cruises on Sydney's Port Jackson are also being operated by Waratahs' fully owned subsidiary ENIGMA R&R CHARTERS. Cruises on the 11 meter motor catamaran EnigmaX can be tailored or combined with the very popular half day tour, giving visitors a perfect day in Australia's greatest city.
