Our adventure starts early morning as we depart Alice Springs. Erlunda, known as the Centre of the Centre is the first stop where we can stretch our legs before continuing our journey to Kings Canyon for a Karrke experience.
Learn about the importance of bush tucker (Aboriginal bush foods) and bush medicines – many of which are still consumed and used today. What do the patterns and symbols in an Aboriginal Dot painting mean? The Karrke Aboriginal Cultural Tour is a 1-hour guided tour that talks about Aboriginal art, culture and more!
This evening, after settling in our own tents at our private campsite, we will enjoy the sunset on Carmichael Crag before a sumptuous BBQ dinner at the Resort.
*Please note: due to varying sunset times throughout the year, dinner may happen before or after sunset viewing times.
Accommodation: Private, semi-permanent campsite at Kings Canyon Resort
Meals: Dinner
Enjoy awakening to the sounds of the Australian Bush before we take on the difficult but extremely rewarding Kings Canyon Rim Walk.
Today’s walk includes some challenging terrain – the steep climb to the top is demanding but along the way, we are graced with stunning views and gorgeous backdrops of the iconic Australian outback. One of the first looks out to the south wall of the Canyon comes after journeying through a narrow gap between two massive twin rocks. This passage is made famous by the movie Priscilla Queen of the Desert and is named Priscilla’s Crack.
The next amazing geological formation you will come across is The Lost City, a series of sandstone domes that resemble an ancient city and often referred to as a mini-Purnululu (Western Australia). From here we will make our way down a series of wooden steps to the canyon floor. The Garden of Eden is a small remnant of a tropical oasis and is a permanent and important water source of the region.
After stopping in at Curtin Springs for lunch, we will make our way to Uluru and Kata-Tjuta National Park for a gentle walk through Walpa Gorge aka ‘Windy Gully’. If you thought the day couldn’t possibly get any better, we’ll round up the days activities by watching the sun set over Uluru and Kata Tjuta from near our campsite.
*Please note: due to varying sunset and sunrise times throughout the year, the order of the activities within Uluru and Kata-Tjuta National Park may vary. Your guide will ensure all activities are covered over Day 2&3.
Accommodation: Private, semi-permanent campsite at Yulara
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Get ready for an early morning as we will leave the Resort while it’s still dark to witness a magical sunrise over the mighty monolith that is Uluru and the domes of Kata Tjuta in the distance.
We will enjoy a short and gentle walk at the base of Uluru. During our walk, we’ll learn about the creation myths and the geology of this magical place.
For those returning to Alice Springs, we commence our journey back around lunch time, stopping at Erldunda to stretch your legs and/or pick up a late lunch (not included). We will return you to your hotel at approximately 5 to 5.30pm after three days of some of the best adventures the Red Centre can offer.
For those extending their stay in Yulara or travelling from Connellan airport, we will return to Kings Canyon Resort by 11.30am before commencing the journey back to Alice Springs with the rest of the group.
*Please note: due to varying sunset and sunrise times throughout the year, the order of the activities within Uluru and Kata-Tjuta National Park may vary. Your guide will ensure all activities are covered over Day 2&3.

A fantastic experience in the Red Centre. Alice Springs, Simpson’s Gap, Ormiston Gorge, next day to Kings Canyon, this was rushed, and future tours should allow for a morning Rim... read more Walk, rather than later afternoon following long drive from Alice Springs. If another day was added to the schedule, it would not be as rushed and potentially risky, and there would be more time to enjoy the surrounds on the Rim Walk. Yulara was magical with sunset and sunrise at Uluru. Sabine was a super guide and 10 out of 10 for her local knowledge, care and her happy personality in all situations.
