Note: Due to luggage size restrictions for day’s 2,3 and 4, you will be issued a duffel bag, and your larger suitcase can be stored at the resort while we head north into gulf country.

After breakfast we will meet the driver/ guide in a 12 seat 4wd bus (or smaller) for the start of our adventure across Quinkan Country.

Our first stop is in Mareeba where we can drop in for morning tea at a well known coffee roaster, before we head over to the stunning Lake Mitchell to do some water bird spotting. We will then travel back in time 20,000 years to view the indigenous art and stencil sites at Split Rock.

The mid afternoon check in at Mungumby lodge will allow those looking for a relaxed afternoon time to unwind in the stunning grounds of the lodge, and those looking to stretch their legs, time enough to do the walk along Mungumby Creek.

Dinner tonight is a short drive from the accommodation at a truely outback “Lion’s Den Hotel” which was built in 1875.

Accommodation: Mungumby Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Morning Tea, Dinner

After breakfast we will head over to Cooktown via unusual Black Mountain, with it’s maze of granite boulders. The views from Grassy Hill offer an unforgettable and spectacular perspective of the surrounding Endeavour River and Coral Sea.

For those interested in the local history, the James Cook Museum is well worth the visit, otherwise a stroll along the foreshore is an essential “must do”.

Once we have had our fill of Cooktown, those that want to relax can do so at Mungumby lodge, and those who want to check out a nearby waterfall can have a more active afternoon.

Accommodation: Mungumby Lodge

Meals: Breakfast

We will depart the lodge and hit the 4WD Bloomfield Track for an adventurous morning.

Deep in the Daintree, if we are lucky we could spot a Cassowary in the dense jungle and mangroves of one of the world’s great rainforests. Hold on tight as we cross the Daintree River in the 4wd, and then it is a more sedate view of the river on a short river cruise. Keep an eye out for crocs!

Before heading back to Palm Cove, we can drop in at the resort town of Port Douglas which will complete our excursion from “resort life”. We will drop you back at the hotel with still time enough for a swim in the pool.
