Come along on this relaxed 5-day tour to Kakadu and Litchfield National Park where you will visit stunning waterfalls; swim in some of Darwin’s best natural pools and get to meet the Top End’s most feared residents, all in air conditioned comfort.
We will journey into Kakadu National Park exploring the spectacular gorges, wetlands and lookouts. Local guides will lead us into the sacred Ubirr and Nourlangie sites. Our tour includes the Arnhemlander experience in Northern Kakadu into Arnhem Land where we will experience the famous Cahill’s Crossing; visit places inaccessible to most, including ancient rock art sites; and learn about Aboriginal culture and heritage. All of this plus time to spot crocodiles on the shores of the Alligator River!

Our adventure starts with an 8am pick up from the Travelodge Resort Darwin. We’ll head into Litchfield National Park to explore the many spectacular sights the Top End has to offer.
The first stop is Wangi Falls. Here you can choose to go for a swim in the escarpment or do the loop walk up to the top of the falls (1.6km).
We’ll take a short stroll to Tolmer Falls before making our way to Florence Falls for a picnic lunch and a swim in the plunge pool. To round-off the days swimming we’ll head over to the cascading pools of Buley Rockhole where you can wade through the pools or find a spot to relax as the cool water rolls onto your back and shoulders.
No adventure in Litchfield NP would be complete without stopping in at the Magnetic Termite Mounds. After exploring these fascinating structures, we will head back to Darwin for the night where you can sample the culinary delights Darwin has to offer.

We depart Darwin early this morning. We head straight to Adelaide River for a unique experience to become more familiar with the more feared residents of the Top End, the Crocs!!
After gaining more appreciation for these amazing pre-historic creatures we head to the world famous and UNESCO World heritage listed Kakadu National Park.
First stop will be at the Border Store close to Cahills Crossing where you will have the opportunity to grab some lunch.
After lunch we head to the awe-inspiring rock art galleries of Ubirr. Here we will have the opportunity to stretch our legs for a short (1km) walk to some of the famous rock art galleries in the area. You may also choose to walk to the top of the lookout over Nadab Floodplain to experience one of the famous panoramas from the ‘Crocodile Dundee’ movie.
Once we have explored all the rich cultural heritage of Ubirr we head to Jabiru to check in at our accommodation, which happens to be shaped like a crocodile! Unpack your bags, cool off in the pool and settle in, this will be your home for the next 2 nights.

Leaving from Jabiru enjoy a full day exploring the Arnhem Land with a local guide, and visit rock art sites not accessible to the general public.
Travelling in a 4WD bus, you will experience the region’s famous landscapes of sandstone escarpment outcrops, rock art sites, forests, floodplains & billabongs with birdlife.
Visit the spectacular Cannon Hill and Hawk Dreaming region. Travel into the Mikkinj Valley with its stunning scenery of billabongs, wildlife & towering escarpment. Enjoy lunch beside the Inkiyu Billabong.

We drive out to Nourlangie rock art site early in the morning to beat the heat and crowds. While it’s still peaceful and quiet we will have the opportunity to take our time while exploring some more of the most breathtaking and diverse Aboriginal rock art paintings in the area.
From Nourlangie we make our way to Gunlom for a walk up to the “Eternity Pool” or you may choose to take a dip at the lower pools if you aren’t feeling like a climb up to the top pools.
After another peaceful picnic lunch, we will head back to Darwin. Your guide will drop you off at the Travelodge Darwin around 5pm, where you are then free to enjoy Darwin’s culinary delights at your own leisure.

Today is departure day. Enjoy breakfast before checking out of the hotel in the morning.
If your flight is not until later in the day, bring your luggage down to reception where they will be able to store it while you do a few more explorations around Darwin.
You might choose to go on a full day trip to Katherine or you could take a ride on the Hop on Hop off Bus around Darwin.
Maybe you feel a bit more adventurous and would like to hire an electric scooter to explore Darwin, they are everywhere! If you feel like a walk, go for an easy and scenic wander through the lush Botanic Gardens or the Bicentennial Park and the Waterfront Precinct aren’t too far away either.
If you feel like escaping the heat, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and the Darwin Military Museum are beautifully air conditioned and contain some fascinating exhibits.

If another day was added to the schedule, it would not be as rushed and potentially risky, and there would be more time to enjoy the surrounds on the Rim Walk. Yulara was magical with sunset and sunrise at Uluru. Sabine was a super guide and 10 out of 10 for her local knowledge, care and her happy personality in all situations.
Favourite part was the guide Iam. She was fun, creative, helpful and knowledgeable while touring Tassie. So good!!
